Slow Olive Festival

After a very successful event last year, we are organizing the Slow Olive Festival again this year that will be bigger and better with more than 6 producers on board, other stalls, speakers and a workshop on how to preserve olives – see below for booking your tickets! We will have a food stall where you will be able to buy lunch and snacks. We will have a charcoal grill and you will be able to taste the beautiful meat from Coral Coast Beef, producer of grassfed beef, with home-made bread made with wholegrain, completely chemical free, stone-milled Willgrow flour and a drizzle of local fresh extra virgin olive oil; some bruschetta with the last of the season tomatoes and basil and Extra virgin olive oil, and more. We will have the privilege of listening from our tent to: Prof Stan Kailis – Professorial Fellow at the School of Plant Biology University of Western Australia and a Fellow of Curtin University of Technology WA – that will speak about table olives, different cultivars and how to process them Isabelle Okis – International Olive Oil Judge, and Moderator of Judges for the WA Olive Awards – that will speak about how to taste olive oils Stallholders include: The Natural Circle, New Norcia Olive Oil and Bakery; Esslemont Estate; The Sathya Olive Company; Northern Valleys Locavore Store; Maalinup Aboriginal Art Gallery; SWAT; Coral Coast Beef.  In the Ian Stannard Pavilion you will also have the opportunity to listen to Alyssa Miller from The Natural Circle, talk about Regenerative Farming Practices in Olive Groves and to Nick Kelly that will talk about Regenerative and Organic Farming in the Wheatbelt. Thank you to the Olive Council WA for supporting the event again this year and providing the judges for our olive oil tasting competition. This year they will select the best extra virgin olive oil and the price will be a free entry to the WA Olive Oil Awards in their category. Feel free to bring your olive oil for the tasting competition on the morning of the event at the Slow Food table in the Slow Olive Festival marquee.
